Penelope is the child of two very important politicians in Colorado, and when she was bitten and turned into a vampire, was sent to the Silver Scrolls labs to be transformed back. After hundreds of tests and visits, she was transformed back, but with the added downside that she now has incredibly rare blood.
Actually missing being a vampire, Penelope took a job as a bartender at the local bar/club for supernaturals, but became trapped in a deal in which she had to give blood to keep the blood beer tap stocked. Penelope was forced to take the deal in order to keep the fact that she visited the bar a secret from her parents, and the added extra that she gets paid for her 'donation.'
Dislikes the message that the Silver Scrolls gives out, but attends to keep her parents happen. When attending the bar/club, Penelope often uses their basement pool to practice swimming, as most of the bar/club goers use the hot tub instead.
Penelope is usually kind and generous, but can be somewhat of a pushover when put under pressure or threatened.
Talia attends the school as part of a community outreach program for foster children but also because one Talia spent the last few years shoplifting, drinking and smoking with a group of vampires. After being brought into her foster home she continued to try and see them, so was sent to Silver Scrolls to try and get her behavior up to scratch, and teach her that supernatural creatures were bad news.
Despises the school and often skips classes, leaves the school without permission and vandalizes when she gets the chance.
Very strong-minded, will let people know exactly what she has a problem with but won't let any of her deeper emotions of problems surface. Very feisty, is unlikely to do anything she doesn't want to do. Is a frequent visitor to the local supernatural bar and club, and is served drinks there as one of her old vampire friends she used to hang out with is a bartender there.
Nikolai is the Vicar and Counsellor at the school, joining a couple years after its opening as he feared for the children's happiness. Born in Harlan County, Kentucky, and spent half his life there before moving after he escaped from trouble. Found faith in religion when he was traveling, and became a vicar as he enjoys helping people and giving hope. Accepts all religions, and accepts confessions and counsels any student that asks or needs it.
A calm, rational man, but is protective over the children and will do what he can to protect them, but doesn't like the idea of un-needed violence. Knows that people like their privacy and sometimes keep their problems bottled up, so uses a few tricks of the mind to help them. Is usually working all hours of the day and all days of the week. When he does have some free time he actually likes to pursue photography, after supervising one of the art classes.
Smokes quite a lot, a bad habit he developed as a child. Tries very hard to cut down but just can't seem to kick it, one reason is that he gets quite angry without having a cigarette, however does try to control himself. Will raise his voice when he is angry or upset about something, although restraint is a goal of his. Doesn't like the children to see him smoke, so usually does it where it is private. Had a troubled past, but never talks about it or mentions it to anyone.
Has been tempted to help children see their parents for short periods of time but decides against it as he doesn't like breaking laws and rules. Has a dog, Loki, who was a puppy of his childhood dog Rocky.
